A well-furnished and tastefully decorated place not only looks aesthetically pleasing, but also provides the perfect unwinding feeling. This is why most of us do not hesitate in investing a good amount of money on right furnishings for our home or office. But keeping your furniture look appealing for many years is a task in itself. Here are some tips to help you make your furniture last longer and enjoy more on your investment:

Keep it away from direct heat and sunlight

Nothing harms your furniture more than direct sunlight. When exposed to excessive sunlight and heat, the furnishings lose the color and shine. The adhesive also loses its effectiveness, making your sofa set or table prone to easy damage.

Inspect for repairs frequently

Make it a point to inspect the health of your chair or table on a regular basis so that you can detect any potential damage beforehand. Look for small cracks in the frame, wear and tear in the cushion or fabric cover etc. In case of wooden furniture, you should also keep an eye on any signs of pest growth which can damage the frame.

Take caution while shifting

If you need to move your furniture from one place to another, always cover it well to avoid any damage due to transport, falling, collision with other items etc. stack the furniture well to ensure minimum chances of breaking or smashing.

Clean your furniture regularly

Keeping the dirt away can help you retain the luster and appeal of your furniture for a longer time. Use soft fabric to wipe the wooden or metallic frame of your sofa set or chair. The cushions and covers can be cleaned using a small vacuum cleaner on a weekly basis to prevent accumulation of dirt. In case of stains due to spilling, wipe it with a soft cloth soaked in very mild detergent.
